FAQ's

What is compounding?

Compounding is the mixing of drugs to fit the unique needs of a patient.

Why is compounding used?

Compounding is used when dosage strengths are difficult to acquire commercially or there is a drug shortage. Also, compounding is used when particular formulations are needed such as a horse that prefers apple flavor over cinnamon, or a cat that likes chicken more than fish flavor. Sometimes the animal's owner isn't comfortable giving injections therefore some medications can be made into a oral suspension/paste.

Where are the prescriptions compounded?

The prescriptions are compounded directly at Essential Pharmacy Compounding.

How can I be reassured that compounding is safe for my animal?

All prescriptions compounded by EPC fall under strict PCAB  guidelines to ensure safety and purity. We certify that patients and employees safety is recognized nationally. Our accreditation is based on observed performance, policy, and procedures of and it's employees. When a compound leaves our pharmacy it is labeled with the patient/owners name, prescribing Veterinarian, dosage and usage directions.

How do I order?

All prescriptions must be prescribed by a licensed Veterinarian.

Shipping:

EPC can drop ship directly to a patients owner, overnight for a small fee, otherwise shipping is free on orders over $100 and the prescription will usually arrive within 2-5 business days.
